5/8/2008  But I love Margarita's Cantina! Margarita's Cantina, Wichita Kansas is one of my favorite Mexican places in the city. Now let me lay this out real quick. There are hundreds of Mexican places in Wichita. A lot of REALLY good ones. Now what I have always found weird is that for years there wasn't a single German restaurant in the entire area. I mean you go to someones house for dinner you have a 50-50 shot at being served authentic German food. The German heritage is pretty pronounced in the entire area. Luckily I love Mexican food. One of my all time favorites is a place down at 47th and Seneca called Taco Jay's. Another is of course, Margarita's Cantina. We went out to eat there last night and had a great meal. Except for the Buffalo wings. First off these were WAY overcooked. They were the color of a chocolate bar. They tasted like they were dropped into the oil twice. They were dry wings, with a little bit of spice. Yet the worse part was to come. The bones were all cold and showed that these were precooked wings. Yep, they dropped them frozen into over heated oil... twice. I was torn writing this. I LOVE this place. I have been a regular since they opened. I've been there many a Friday night when the house band Lotus was playing. So while I have to ding them hard on their wings I highly recommend them for everything else. Even their burgers.
